Tutta Gnutta

Artist Statement

Tutta Gnutta (Natalia Getman) is a photographer. Born and raised in the city of Kimry (1979). Lives and works in the city of Odintsovo, Moscow Region. In her projects, Natalia Getman relies on the connection between humans and nature as an aspect of life that helps to find harmony and balance. She is interested in the theme of relationships between people, how strong bonds arise between loved ones, how they develop and are maintained.

In her artistic practice, she combines documentary, conceptual and meditative approaches, using photography as the main tool for exploring the deep connections between humans and the surrounding world. The artist’s interests are focused on the theme of harmony and disharmony in the relationship between humans and nature, as well as on the exploration of the inner world of a person in the context of socio-cultural constraints. Her works touch upon issues of freedom and unfreedom, memory and oblivion, past and present. Getman strives to capture not only the visible reality, but also the quiet consequences that manifest themselves in everyday life, urging the viewer to reflect on our place in the world and our responsibility to the future.
