This story was born from an archive of letters, children’s drawings and photographs found on the mezzanine of an old house. I scanned the material I found. I searched for connections and restored the sequence of events that happened to the members of this family. I was looking for a form for this project for a long time. And finally I came up with the idea to make a comic book. The letters are really entertaining. Two sons wrote them to their mother, and she carefully kept them in a folder labeled “Letters of Kolya and Andriusha”. I invited Tanya Buryak to co-author the letters, she drew the illustrations and we put the comic together. Translated with DeepL.com (free version)

My name is Margarita. I have two sons: Kolya and Andrei. They studied, went to camp, grew up, served in the army and regularly wrote me letters from different places. They didn’t always write much, so I read between the lines and tried to understand what was really going on with them. From the very first notes diligently written out by an uncertain hand, to the letters “Mom, I decided to get married”. I carefully preserved them so that 50 years later these letters would be found and published in the form you are holding in your hands now. Translated with DeepL.com (free version)
